DOURONE (Madrid, 1985) is a Spanish visual artist whose work examines the human condition in a period of transformation. His artistic approach is based on a constant questioning: what does it mean to be human in an era where technology, speed, and change redefine our way of thinking, feeling, and interacting with the world?

Through painting, installation, and artistic research projects, he develops a visual language that combines realism, symbolism, and elements of surrealism to explore themes such as identity, memory, consciousness, desire, and contradiction. His images function more as spaces of reflection than as closed narratives, inviting the viewer to recognize themselves within them.

«Rather than representing the world, his work attempts to reveal what is usually invisible: the nameless emotions, the contradictions that make us up, and the questions we share as human beings.»

His work has been exhibited in galleries and institutions in Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States, and it is included in international private collections.

For DOURONE, art is not a response, but a form of knowledge. It is a space where the image ceases to be a simple representation to become an experience capable of expanding the viewer’s consciousness.

His art explores the unbridled spirit that resides within us, the duality between strength and vulnerability, as well as the constant struggle between control and chaos. Through his brushstrokes, Ricardo invites us to reflect on our own inner fires and the wild forces that shape our existence. His practice relies on a meticulous balance between powerful images and subtle details, between minimalism and boldness.

His paintings, executed using the traditional oil-on-canvas technique, are particularly renowned for their classic realism combined with contemporary themes. One of the key characteristics of his work is the frequent use of black and white, which, in his opinion, gives his works a «timeless style» and allows him to explore «feelings» more deeply. In a contemporary approach, Ricardo seeks to create «visual, cultural, and historical hybrids» by blending classic references with modern elements.

His work highlights striking contrasts and harmonious connections between different themes. By allowing them to coexist, Ricardo shows that very different subjects can tell a common story, thanks to the emotional depth and artistic expression that connects them.
