En 1761, un ouragan tragique mis \u00e0 terre des centaines d\u2019arbres centenaires dans le massif du Morvan. C\u2019est l\u00e0 que l\u2019artiste Steph Cop installa son atelier, apr\u00e8s un d\u00e9but de carri\u00e8re parisien\u00a0: partir d\u2019un trait, d\u2019un dessin, d\u2019une \u00e9motion pour aboutir \u00e0 un ARO. Cet ARO a fait du chemin\u00a0; de la r\u00e9sine en 2001, au vinyle en 2006, pour enfin devenir le Wooden ARO en 2009. Le ARO s\u2019est construit avec son cr\u00e9ateur, pendant pr\u00e8s de 10 ans.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

ARO est en Steph Cop, et ce-dernier n\u2019a pas eu le choix de vivre avec. Il a ainsi cr\u00e9\u00e9 son monde, sonimaginary friend (\u00ab IF \u00bb) \u00e0 6 facettes : un cube, qui n\u2019est autre que la t\u00eate d\u2019un arbre ; 6 personnages virtuels faisant partie d\u2019une seule, ARO est un tout. Il signifie Analyse Reflex Obsessional.<\/p>

Pour Steph Cop, chaque mati\u00e8re a son propre langage. Lui, s\u2019exprime \u00e0 travers ces Imaginary Friends <\/i>\u00e0 partir de 2000. Ce sont des all\u00e9gories de ses \u00e9motions, le permettant de se prot\u00e9ger du monde ext\u00e9rieur, des relations humaines.<\/p>

Cette protection a par ailleurs pouss\u00e9 l\u2019artiste \u00e0 s\u2019installer dans le Morvan, o\u00f9 il s\u2019enferme pour mieux se lib\u00e9rer. Arpentant sans rel\u00e2che les forets des noires montagnes \u00e0 la recherche de ces arbres centenaires dans lesquels il imagine un ARO, Steph Cop se laisse guider par l\u2019arbre pour ne faire qu\u2019un avec cet \u00eatre. Il d\u00e9couvre ce qu\u2019est r\u00e9ellement l\u2019arbre \u00e0 travers les coups de sa tron\u00e7onneuse, il explore un rapport de force naturel dans lequel la m\u00e9canique est sous l\u2019influence de l\u2019organique.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dire que son art d\u00e9coule d\u2019un rapport conflictuel avec le bois serait se m\u00e9prendre : \u00ab le conflit est avec soi-m\u00eame, pas avec le bois \u00bb. La cr\u00e9ation de Steph Cop est obsessionnelle : la main ne fait que suivre les lignes marqu\u00e9es par le temps. Copelini, Robur, Ashraw, la Colonne, ou encore Brain Cube Amusement sont donc faussement semblables, l\u2019artiste jouant des failles du bois pour en extraire la forme majestueuse, ARO.<\/p>

Chaque arbre est unique, chaque ARO est singulier.<\/p>
