Steph Cop sculpts fallen trees that he finds in his forest in the Morvan region, where he has been living for several years. His work brings to life the vital force of the tree, embodied in the various figures of A.R.O. Art extends the life cycle by integrating itself into the ecosystem. Today, surrounded by the trees, the artist navigates these troubled times. It is in the oxygen of the first spring leaves, distilled by the gentle breeze, that Steph Cop draws energy for renewal. CoVid has taken its toll on him. The trees take care of him, the artist who preserves their destiny by sublimating them.<\/p>

Les questions qu\u2019il porte au monde \u00e0 travers son \u0153uvre concernent notre rapport au vivant, notre inscription dans le cycle vital. Aussi, l\u2019artiste Steph Cop est \u00e9minemment sensible \u00e0 ce bouleversement. Il ne sculptera plus comme avant. Steph Cop nous envoie une photographie de son atelier, au jour 23 du confinement, accompagn\u00e9e de ces quelques mots esquiss\u00e9s en convalescence :
\u201cCombien d\u2019arbres irai-je planter demain?
Le matin, je fais le tour de chacun, comme un rituel de d\u00e9but de printemps. Une forme de lecture sensitive matinale, voil\u00e0 comment s\u2019ouvre chaque jour de mon confinement. Apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9prouv\u00e9 l\u2019oppression du CoVid, la respiration simple devient une \u00e9motion profonde, la nature est r\u00e9paratrice.<\/p>\n

L\u2019exp\u00e9rience de la solitude peut-\u00eatre indispensable quand elle est choisie. L\u2019isolement, c\u2019est autre chose, chacun le ressent j\u2019imagine.
Pendant ce temps les for\u00eats, les plaines, la nature en \u00e9closion.

Pendant ce temps quelle part prendrai-je pour l\u2019int\u00e9riorit\u00e9? \u00c0 quel moment reprendrai-je la sculpture?
C\u2019est mon histoire longue et intime qui doit trouver sa place dans cette rupture mondiale.
Ce matin j\u2019ai coup\u00e9 8 feuilles, pr\u00eat \u00e0 dessiner.
Hier j\u2019ai plant\u00e9 50 arbres.

Le travail de Steph Cop d\u2019origine toujours de l\u2019\u00e9criture. D\u2019abord les mots, puis le dessin, toujours pr\u00e9alable \u00e0 la forme sculpt\u00e9e. L\u2019artiste tient un journal quotidien. En cette intranquille travers\u00e9e, les mots pour chasser les maux. Viendra la sculpture, elle portera cette faille.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
