John Matos aka Crash was born in the Bronx on October 11, 1961. He was a major protagonist of the ’Aerosol Revolution».
He began painting very early on in the New York trains before practicing on canvases. In 1983 he joined the Sidney Janis gallery, before entering the world’s greatest collections at the MOMA in New York and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
He appeared to the general public by co-producing the advertising campaign, Peter Stuyvesant, with Keith Haring.
In a style close to comics, with always vibrant colors characteristic of advertising, it asserts itself as a pure phenomenon of the contemporary world.
It is part of the perfect lineage of Pop Art and once again brings the alleged subculture of «Graffiti» to the forefront.
