Hatchikian Gallery and the Art production house Quai 36 We are pleased to inaugurate a long-term partnership with a Carte Blanche for Yann L’Outsider, series of exhibitions and events taking place from February 5th to March 5th, 2022 and offering an unprecedented framework for discovering the artist’s work in its various manifestations. This Carte Blanche will be punctuated by three sequences which will allow you to explore and experience everything The scope of Yann L’Outsider’s work.
The three sequences are classified as Tempo because precisely, one reflection on the temporality of the creative act underpins the aesthetic and scenic concept of this Carte Blanche. Yann L’Outsider questions how to reconcile in the same movement the brilliance of the restless gestural expression of urban art and the introspective course of research in the studio—two relationships with time whose antithesis is a source of creative tension.
The First Tempo from February 5 to March 5 will present a performance in which the artist explores, through a series of works on canvas, a metaphorical abstraction which plays with monochrome black effects highlighted by the projection of white paint, revealing a play of shadows and lights that leads us into an irresistible mystery. The artist’s performance will take place during the opening of this sequence, on the facade of the Art Production House Quai 36 in the cultural space of the Fiminco Foundation, a way to weave a link between the wall and the canvas.
The Carte Blanche event with Yann L’Outsider will take place in the recently inaugurated exhibition space at Quai 36 within the cultural hub of the Fiminco Foundation in Romainville.
Hatchikian Gallery and Quai 36 thus cross their gazes over the work of Yann L’Outsider, gazes carried by different prisms: Yann L’Outsider has collaborated several times on the projects of Quai 36 (murals on the industrial ruins of Magasin Libre in Reims, transformed into a cultural space; murals within the former Pierre Cardin museum in Saint-Ouen; and the exhibition Metamorphosis at the Chaufferie of the Fiminco Foundation, inaugurating the new location of Quai 36). Hatchikian Gallery counts Yann L’Outsider among its permanent artists, and honors his work in the studio, placing the work within an aesthetic research that asserts itself and becomes unique without abandoning the spirit of urban art from its origins. Yann L’Outsider is the origin of the meeting between these two partners, a meeting that has become an obvious choice opening up a beautiful artistic history.
This cross-reference resonates with the question of duality that runs through the artistic journey of Yann L’Outsider, and whose entire creative spectrum this Carte Blanche aims to explore.
