Miguel Chevalier
«Waiting»
Miguel Chevalier was born in 1959 in Mexico; he lives and works in Paris.
Since 1978, Miguel Chevalier has used computer technology as a means of expression in the field of plastic arts. He has established himself internationally as one of the pioneers of virtual art and the digital medium.
His experimental and multidisciplinary work draws its inspiration from the history of art, from which he reinterprets its essential elements. His work addresses the question of the immateriality in art, as well as the logics induced by the computer, such as hybridization, generativity, interactivity, and networking. He develops different themes, such as the relationship between nature and artifice, the observation of the flows and networks that organize our contemporary societies, the imagination of architecture and virtual cities, and the transposition of motifs from Islamic art into the digital world. The images they provide constantly question our relationship with the world.
Miguel Chevalier has held numerous exhibitions in museums, art centers, and galleries around the world. He also works on projects in the public and architectural spaces.
