REVISIT: The artists gathered for an unprecedented group show to mark the two-year partnership between Hatchikian Gallery and Quai 36.

For the past two years, Hatchikian Gallery has developed a partnership with Quai 36 to present artists working both in public space for mural projects and in workshops on canvases or various media. This duality fuels the momentum of practices that combine creative brilliance and aesthetic research, for the deployment of singular trajectories that have been able to establish themselves on the contemporary art scene. To celebrate the two-year success of this partnership, which has highlighted emerging talents from the field of urban art, Hatchikian Gallery and Quai 36 present a group show that brings together the diversity of the visual propositions of the artists exhibited during recent seasons within this intersectional perspective between the gaze of a gallerist and that of art producers for places in transition. Audrey Hatchikian and Julie Frydman propose a dynamic scenography that combines the heterogeneous universes of the artists who have punctuated two years of encounters and events: an unprecedented encounter will mark the confrontation between the whimsical graphic gimmicks of David Bruce, the inspiring dreamlike architectures of Chazme, the organic colorations of Nelio, the captivating abstractions of Yann L’Outsider, the vibrant geometries of Simon Poter, the humanist calligraphies of Zepha and the magnetic chromaticity of the elements of Zabala.

Variation(s), Yann L’Outsider, a decade of formal abstraction in black and white.

As he looks back on a decade of creation since his transition from the wall to the canvas to publish the monograph Variation(s), Yann L’Outsider had to experience a vertigo; a vertigo that the viewer also faces when he immerses his gaze in the dual abstraction of his works where the glimmers of light projected into the interstices of black matter lead to unfathomable infinity… Through the series in black and white that have marked these last ten years, Yann L’Outsider has tirelessly explored the possibilities of form in the visual language of abstraction: an aesthetics of letter, with a prismatic play of typographic elements, that continues in the studio his original urban practice; but also an aesthetics of form in motion. Variations in the plural, which the artist seeks to capture, not in suspended moments but precisely in their dynamics of transformation; and it is precisely a singular vibration that emanates from his works, creating a tension in which we, the spectators, are literally caught up.

Simon Poter, the vibrant vibrations of geometric abstraction

Discovering Simon Poter’s universe is a real delight because, while the artist inscribes his work within the movement of geometric abstraction, the formal rigour is dispelled by a striking rhythm that leads us into a resolutely vibrant momentum, and we feel intensely the full dimension of pleasure emanating from the artist’s approach.

Chazme, a chromatic of the urban artifact

If architecture is the first art, the major art of designing and constructing spaces, it forms the matrix of Chazme’s pictorial research, a formal abstraction inspired by urban geometries and nuanced by a singular chromaticity that opens up a metaphorical perspective. The formal universe unfolding as a web of buildings represents what man encounters in postmodern contemporary life? Are they the internal labyrinths into which our dreams lead us? Are these artifacts meant to connect us or separate us, isolating us in wall-based segregations? Chazme’s work opens up endless questions, both intimate and societal.

Art Habité, an exhibition by the artist Vincent Abadie Hafez aka Zepha, presented by Hatchikian Gallery and Quai 36

An exhibition with multiple sequences to appreciate the work of Vincent Abadie Hafez. Hatchikian Gallery renews its collaboration with the Art Production House Quai 36 to present the work of Vincent Abadie Hafez aka Zepha in two different locations for two scenographies and two perspectives on the artist’s work. The exhibition titled Art Habité will take place at the Galerie Hatchikian in Paris and at the Galerie […]

Carte blanche to Yann L’Outsider, an exhibition in 3 Tempos presented by HatchikianGallery x Quai 36

Carte blanche to Yann L’Outsider is the inaugural exhibition of a long-term collaboration between Hatchikian Gallery and the Quai 36 Art Production House. Yann L’Outsider has been the link between these two partners, accompanying his artistic research: Hatchikian Gallery for the works in the studio and Quai 36 for the realization of monumental projects in public space. We had the opportunity to tell the beautiful story of these encounters in our previous Art Paper.

Yann L’Outsider: duality as a creative tension.

Yann Le Berre aka L’outsider has long practiced urban art and it is now in Brittany that he has set up his studio, in former agricultural buildings transformed into a space for creation and artistic experimentation, offering the possibility of hanging the works, especially the large formats, to appreciate the scenography.
From urban art to the workshop
In his artistic research, Yann L’outsider plays with the dualities that constitute his path. His orientation towards working in the studio, about ten years ago, inevitably transformed the conditions of creation, placing the artist in a different temporal context, turning him towards more standardized mediums, yet Yann L’outsider continues to seek to recreate the state of stillness, urgency, imbalance, or even discomfort that may have stimulated the creative momentum in urban environments.

Maryi, an aesthetic poetry of nuance

Hatchikian Gallery presents the artist Maryi and is pleased to share the emotion generated by the discovery of her work, an abstract and delicate work from which emanates great poetic sensuality. A beautiful encounter with an artist who is also a beautiful person, who pursues aesthetic research by opening spaces of silence where softness blends with the creative tension. A work that explores our condition as speaking beings, present in the world through our thinking bodies. How do we find our place, how do we fit into the common space-time by welcoming the nuances of existence?

The Fragments of Steph.Cop: a polysemy of the Cube.

Steph Cop inscribes his artistic research in immersion in the ecosystem of the Morvan where he has installed his studio. The sculpture is part of a vital cycle in which the artist explores its extent. By carving the fallen trees, he prolongs their destiny in figures that perpetuate the memory of history. In the unfolding of his work, the Fragments are a series of carved sculptures that hold a special place. Interlude? Transition between two movements? A sequence of sculpture as an artistic moment in suspense that marks the end of the ARO cycle embodied in movement IX and the momentum towards a new creative dynamic, a momentum towards the monumental.
