Urban Art Fair: group show by Toxic, Yann l’Outsider, Nelio, Chazme & Zabala – Hatchikian Gallery x Quai 36

13 April 2023 - 16 March 2023

Hatchikian Gallery and Quai 36 We are pleased to announce our participation in the 7th edition of the Urban Art Fair 2023, an unmissable event dedicated to urban art that takes place from April 13 to 16 at the Carreau du Temple (Paris 3). This 7th edition of the UAF will bring together 36 galleries and honor more than 100 artists.

The event will be an opportunity to highlight a selection of artists from the Hatchikian gallery: Toxic, Yann L’Outsider, Chazme, Nelio and Zabala, who have in common to have made themselves known within the Graffiti movement before asserting their visual identity on canvas in the studio.

Hatchikian Gallery will be pleased to present the artist Toxic, With whom she has worked for many years. Toxic, a close friend of Basquiat and Rammellzee, has retained from his graffiti practice on the walls of the Bronx a defiant and dazzling force that animates his works with unrestrained bursts of color. His canvases open dense pictorial spaces of irreproachable entropy, overflowing with chromatic efflorescence.

In collaboration with Quai 36, Hatchikian Gallery will also present the artists who have been the subject of exhibitions over the past year: Yann L’Outsider, Nelio, Chazme, and Zabala.

Yann the Outsider explore different dimensions of abstraction: typographic abstraction through formal compositions around the letter and metaphorical abstraction inspired by a questioning of space-time, in which he seeks to transcribe the graphic vibration on canvases with a singular, fascinating kineticism, with unfathomable and mysterious effects.

Nelio He works on the forms and nuances of abstraction through a pictorial research aimed at making the a priori propositions antagonistic to formal minimalism and abstract expressionism coexist, through remarkable chromatic precision.

Chazme Decline offers a formal abstraction inspired by the observation of the brutal geometry of large urban ensembles, which he nuances with a poetic and dreamlike chromaticity inviting us to find the way out of these labyrinths that may just be the allegory of our intimate and unconscious patterns.

Zabala It questions the materiality and mystery of the world’s landscape through a realistic work that nevertheless tends towards an abstraction from which emanates a captivating atmosphere that transcribes the magnetism of the elements – water, the sea, rock or the forest – in a kinetic of forms and striking colors.

The seventh edition of the Urban Art Fair will take place from Thursday 13 April (press preview from 2pm to 6pm and opening by invitation from 6pm to 10pm) to Sunday 16 April (public opening from Friday 14 April) at the Carreau du Temple, The former covered market, restored and emblematic of the Haut-Marais district, now offers Parisians a multidisciplinary cultural space.
