REVISIT: The artists gathered for an unprecedented group show to mark the two-year partnership between Hatchikian Gallery and Quai 36.

For the past two years, Hatchikian Gallery has developed a partnership with Quai 36 to present artists working both in public space for mural projects and in workshops on canvases or various media. This duality fuels the momentum of practices that combine creative brilliance and aesthetic research, for the deployment of singular trajectories that have been able to establish themselves on the contemporary art scene. To celebrate the two-year success of this partnership, which has highlighted emerging talents from the field of urban art, Hatchikian Gallery and Quai 36 present a group show that brings together the diversity of the visual propositions of the artists exhibited during recent seasons within this intersectional perspective between the gaze of a gallerist and that of art producers for places in transition. Audrey Hatchikian and Julie Frydman propose a dynamic scenography that combines the heterogeneous universes of the artists who have punctuated two years of encounters and events: an unprecedented encounter will mark the confrontation between the whimsical graphic gimmicks of David Bruce, the inspiring dreamlike architectures of Chazme, the organic colorations of Nelio, the captivating abstractions of Yann L’Outsider, the vibrant geometries of Simon Poter, the humanist calligraphies of Zepha and the magnetic chromaticity of the elements of Zabala.

From Château La Coste to the island of Naoshima, the architectural purity of Tadao Ando for exceptional artistic domains.

For art lovers, destinations that offer both an exceptional environment and open-air museums are a true delight for aesthetes seeking escapades amidst spectacular works of art and architecture. From the nearby Provence to the distant Japanese islands, let’s visit two areas that have established themselves as indispensable artistic stops: Château La Coste, a wine estate on the foothills of the Luberon, and Naoshima, an island in the Seto Inland Sea in Japan. The link between the two? The architecture of Tadao Ando, winner of the 1995 Pritzker Prize, whose austerity sets a unique way of inscribing the built into the landscapes and capturing the light to create the design of art spaces that offer unprecedented visual and sensory experiences.

Chazme, a chromatic of the urban artifact

If architecture is the first art, the major art of designing and constructing spaces, it forms the matrix of Chazme’s pictorial research, a formal abstraction inspired by urban geometries and nuanced by a singular chromaticity that opens up a metaphorical perspective. The formal universe unfolding as a web of buildings represents what man encounters in postmodern contemporary life? Are they the internal labyrinths into which our dreams lead us? Are these artifacts meant to connect us or separate us, isolating us in wall-based segregations? Chazme’s work opens up endless questions, both intimate and societal.

The Pinault Collection at the Bourse de Commerce, Paris

After Venice, it is in Paris that the works of the Pinault collection can be discovered in an exceptional setting: La Bourse de Commerce. As was the case with Le Palazzo Grassi opened in 2006 and La Punta della Dogana opened in 2009, emblematic monuments of heritage are being renovated, combining historical splendor with the contemporary architectural purity of Tadao Ando to become the settings for a scenography that confronts cultural heritage and today’s avant-garde, for a contemplation of the works in an unprecedented setting.

Jeff Koons invests in the MuCEM in Marseille

Jeff Koons, the most controversial but also the most intriguing contemporary artist, has taken over the MUCEM in Marseille to create a dialogue between his emblematic works and the popular art collections preserved in the walls of fibreglass blocks designed by the architect Rudy Ricciotti. What a carte blanche for the artist, who looks a bit like the marriage of a dog and a lobster. What a conversation one could imagine between some twenty works that marked the artist’s flamboyant career, including 19 from the Pinault collection and loaned for the occasion, and everyday objects, witnesses of the history of popular lifestyles, belonging to the MUCEM’s ethnographic heritage inherited from the former Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions of Paris?
